Take a few minutes right now to celebrate the risen Lord. Our eternal salvation hinges on this miraculous event. The great mystery of imparted righteousness is set in motion by this astounding event. Jesus predicted the process of our salvation and then demonstrated the greatest love of all by following through with the painful death that was to set the stage for what was to come.
“As Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and on the way He said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.” Matthew 20:17-19 (NASB)
It’s impossible to imagine what it would have been like to be one of the eye witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus. What a glorious experience that must have been. Everything Jesus taught was confirmed and validated by this demonstration of total power over death.
“Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.” Matthew 28:1-6 (NASB)
Jesus is alive! He lives so that we too may experience resurrection ourselves through baptism.
“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4 (NASB)
Godliness is the essence of Christ’s work on the cross, empowered by his resurrection, and received by our faith. The mystery of God’s divine scheme has now been revealed to those of us who believe.
“By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16 (NASB)
Praise be to God for sending His Son! Thank you Father for your infinite love and your willingness to sacrifice your Son on our behalf. May we never take for granted the awesome gift you have bestowed upon us. May we dedicate ourselves to sharing that love with the world by serving others on your behalf.
Amen!
