The Book Of Hebrews

Notes from First Pass KJV 23/02/19:
An admirable letter to the Hebrews, from one who is mature in the scriptures, showing full understanding of the foreshadowing of Christ and making many references to scripture, appealing to the hearts of this audience.

The author clarifies rank and order, the position and Authority of Jesus above previous spokespersons of Yah, including the angels and Moses which were reverenced. He also proves that the practice of animal blood sacrifice was flawed and insufficient and has been replaced once and for all by the sacrifice of Jesus.

It appears these Hebrews were being persecuted or at least scorned by their brethren who were not of the faith, but continued in these practices. They may have been wavering in faith or adopting different doctrines stating that sacrifice was still required. They may have forgotten or misunderstood the purpose and position of Christ.

Other Thoughts:
Many thoughts which have occurred to me over the pass few days-weeks have been made more clear to me in this book.

1.
The "No Effort Faith" - a false doctrine which has been so eloquently expressed to me time and time again which I could never grasp as it just doesn't make sense at all. I think people forget new testament is only 2-5% of the bible, depending on which version you read and they also forget that the word of Jesus never... Ever... made mention of this falsehood. #trashcanned Thank you Jesus, another bullet dodged.

The writer expresses in the whole of Hebrews 11 all the works, acts of faith, belief, obedience of all the Patriarchs so loved and honored. From Abel to the Prophets.

Faith is an Act! Faith = DOING. Faith is not a fairy tale, effortless "Lord I believe and I leave it all to you" kinda thing (But for all who enjoy such doctrines, your will be done)

2.
'The Law is done away with'
Oh thank God for removing this murk from my eyes. The Law is the Communion we have with Yah. His gift to us. Thank you Father!

In this book the writer focuses on the Sacrificial law. Not even that it was done away with, but that it was done in perfection through Jesus. For everything in the law is a carnal image or foreshadowing of what WILL be. In Hebrews 9:19-23 the writer brings clarity to this topic. So if Jesus complete the ritual in Spirit - what my ancestors sought to replicate through animal sacrifice - shouldn't we also look forward to the spiritual fulfilment of ALL the carnal laws?
(I keep thinking, people who see no need for Law see no need for Yah).

3.
The Holy Spirit may be the fulfilment of the New Covenant Hebrews 10:15-17 ... This I thought about a lot before. That we will FOLLOW THE LAW from our heart via the Holy Spirit.

Now this makes clearer what Paul said to the Galatians "BUT.. IF... you are lead by the spirit, you are not under the law".
My conclusion is the Holy Spirit IS THE LAW, made imprint on our heart and mind.. The fruit of which are righteous.. The opposite of which is UNLAWFUL. See Galatians 5:18-23.

4.
The need for Maturity in faith is mentioned in Hebrews 5:12-14. We are expected to grow to become teacher, and not be perpetual students. This is telling of today's church goers, forever sheep, babes in spirit.

Second Pass of Hebrews will explore the many scriptures references in this epistle.

All praises to our Great and Loving Creator and his Son, our High Priest and Greatest friend.
