The two greatest commandments are not part of the ten, they are the ten. Once upon a time in a garden far far away, there lived a man named Adam with his wife Eve who broke the first commandment, putting their will first and plunged the world into death rather than life. It was by choice.
It wasn't until many ages later that another special kind of man broke, by choice, the finality of death by reversing what Eve and Adam had done. He opened the door to access to the tree of life again by putting the will of the Father first and never His own, even unto His own murder at the hands of fellow man. Doing so, in being the 'unblemished lamb' required for the first resurrection, He also followed the second commandment, acting in servitude to both God and fellow man. He followed the Law, His two commandments which all lesser rules/laws revolve around, God's will ahead of our own and servitude to all.
Agreeing to follow that first commandment, we also (in seeking resurrection) then follow the second to show our allegiance to the will of God and our worthiness for forgiveness, counteracting the selfishness of adversarial man in the process by way of our servitude to all, enemies included. Simplicity. All the rest turned into religion is but backstory, overload, or confusion designed to serve the purposes of man.
