DISCLAIMER: These are my personal notes based on where my understanding is right now. These, as well as my long form notes are also available on my personal blog Aspie for God on Typepad (link in my bio).

Genesis 1:1-5 (NLT)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty and darkness covered the deep waters. The spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said "Let there be light" and there was light. God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day" and the darkness "night". Evening passed and morning came marking the first day.

Every person who is saved by divine grace is a new creation - C H Spurgeon.

* The world was dark and empty before God spoke light into it an unbelievers soul is the same state.
* Darkness cannot make light, the spiritually dead cannot create eternal life by themselves.
* Divine light gives understanding and hope, darkness offers only ignorant death and destruction.
* God promises order from chaos, Satan offers no order but chaos.
* Light is life, darkness is death.
* In God we are Saints, in Satan we are sinners.
* In light there is humility, in darkness only pride.
* Jesus is our redeemer, Satan is our murderer.
* For believers there is a promise and hope of a new world and eternal life, for unbelievers this world is all the joy they have followed by an eternity of sorrow.
* Internal religion is worthy, external religion is worthless.
* Grace is a free gift of life to reject it is death.
* Children of light cannot sin through Christ they are no longer condemned for the sin committed by their dead darkness, children of darkness can do nothing but sin and condemn themselves already.
* God can distinguish between the light and the dark He knows who are His and of the light and promises to never take His eyes of them. Those belonging to Satan God turns His back on.
* God promises there will always be light in the world as His witness, the darkness tries to snuff it out but it will never succeed.
* Light can never be dark and dark can never be light.
* God focuses on the positive, humans focus on the negative.
* God can forgive and forget, humans can't forgive and forget easily.
* God is full, we are empty, God is strong, we are weak.
* Light brings discontent with a fallen world, darkness is content with a fallen world.
* To be born again is to obey, to refuse is to disobey.
