During Jesus' earthly ministry, He made it a point to teach in parables and many times, He purposefully did so because He did not intend to share these spiritual truths with the unbelieving crowd. Consequently, this has caused many earthly-minded people to interpret Jesus’ messages based on their own human intellect or religious perspective. This includes the many manmade traditions and misleading doctrines taught to congregations all around the world. The disciples who Jesus knew to be His true followers asked, "Why do You speak to the people in parables?" He replied, "The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. This is why I speak to them in parables: 'Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand'" (Matthew 13:10-13).
The Apostle Paul wrote, "The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone's judgment. "For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:14-16). Today’s true believers, those who have surrendered everything to find new life and spiritual rebirth have the Holy Spirit living within them to give them understanding of the mysteries of God. However, those who remain spiritually dead, the religious and unsaved of this world, cannot understand these mysteries because they do not have the Holy Spirit to help them to understand spiritual truths of God.
The Apostle Peter wrote, "Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him. He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction" (2 Peter 3:15-16). Hence, many of the teachings of Jesus seem harsh and confusing to those who are spiritually dead. Nevertheless, Jesus' teachings offer clear guidance and spiritual growth for those who are born again into the Body of Christ. Jesus said, "Any one of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:33). We know that most churchgoers do not and do not intend to surrender their lives while they are here on earth. Therefore, they deceive themselves into believing that they are something they are not. Thus, because of their arrogant false proclamation of faith they remain spiritually dead and cannot understand the true meanings of Jesus’ teachings.
Hence, the Christian needs to repent from a life on this world to gain citizenship in heaven! The Father does not recognize dual citizenship as you will either serve Him or you will serve the spirit of this world, it is your choice. Those who are truly born again must stop trying to understand the scriptures from a human perspective as those who are spiritually dead do. Instead, seek divine insight from the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you in spiritual growth. It is time to stop living a life according to manmade traditions and doctrines based on human understanding. “As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life. I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught. And now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him." (1 John 2:24-29).
