I’ll never understand a person’s need to be so negative. Perhaps it is bred of stagnancy? People who go unchallenged never grow, remain stagnant; this isn’t healthy. The ability of the mind and psyche itself to adapt and change must be nurtured, not beaten off with a stick.
So Difference, as shown in the widely variant human species (and human spirit, for that matter), is truly a fundamental lesson in tolerance. People can either rise to the challenge, and succeed; or, they can fail miserably when confronted with something or someone starkly different from themselves.
I used to be angry over intolerance.. but, as time progresses, I find myself increasingly saddened by the state of intolerance in others, instead of angry. I feel pain and gut-wrenching sadness. I feel pity. It is a terrible shame for a person to bring on such deep-seated negativity, over difference. It will always remain true that each of us may have one or many things that each other person may never understand. But this is how we were created.
One thing that has often bothered me to a point, is how God’s love is severely overlooked in favor of the negative. “Remember not to sin, remember not to speak ill, remember not to do wrong” — and even, “Remember what God hates.” These are seen as “positive” things by some, but they actually are not. These are negative terms: sin, ill, wrong, hate.. even just “don’t / do not”. This is not the positive light of God, but the negative downfall of Man, that is focused upon time and time again.
This is all one way to look at it, but… that is not how I choose my outlook on life. My outlook, reminds me of the awesome power that is Divinity: Remember that God is perfect. Remember that God is graceful. Remember that God is forgiving. Remember what God loves. Remember that God is love. Remember that God loves you. And me.
In a perfect world (which we do not have), it would be positive and full of light. So in breeding only negativity into this world, people do not aim for perfection; instead, they aim only for sadness and despair of the highest forms. We can do so much better… we can do so much more than this. No one knows the heart of another, or the path of another. As unique individuals, we live each and every day with a mind and heart that no other will ever, ever know. Ever.
Except.. God.
God will always know each and every one of us, better than we could even ever know ourselves. And in that uniqueness that God has created in the human species each and every piece, are we expected to tear apart the very creation of God? If God created diversity, when did we take the liberty of destroying that which God specifically created?
Where did we go wrong?
Diversity and difference… we fear what we do not understand, that’s true.
But the answer to "fear", isn’t malice and vengeance, and negativity.
The answer to "fear"… is simply "God".
