Shameless Persistence

"But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence." (Luke 11:8 NLT)

Prayer is the tool with which we commune with God. By it we discuss our need with Him and He responds to us. In the place of prayer also, He releases His burden to us.
Today, there is a kind of understanding we have that if something is the will of God, He should just go ahead and do it, without our asking or insistence. This line of thought is not biblical. Though, something is the will of God for me, He wants me to ask Him and keep asking Him in a shameless manner until He does it.
Knowing the will of God is not enough, I must press it in the place of prayer. When Daniel got to know the will of God concerning the children of Israel in captivity, he began to pray to about it. (Daniel 9:1-3). When the land of Israel went into apostasy under Ahab, it was the will of God to bring judgement upon them, but Elijah prayed fervently about it and God hearken unto him. (James 5:17-18)
It is my duty to pray to God about His will and purposes for my life.

ACTION PLAN: I must quit pushing the responsibility of praying for God's will in my life to another.

PRAYER: Father, guide me to find out Your will for my life, by Your Spirit through Your Word, and also help me to shamelessly persist about it in the place of prayer.
