Set Your Minds On Things Above, Not On Earthly Things.

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 3:2-3 When the things of this world press against us, we who are in Christ need to remember these words and the meaning behind these words. If we do, we will find peace in any storm. However, if we don't, it will not be long before we get wrapped up in the storm and begin to feel overwhelmed. The second part of this scripture is the key. If we are truly in Christ, spiritually reborn, we are a new creation and our life in this world no longer belong to us. We did in fact die, and now our lives are hidden in Christ with God! Meaning, He is now the one who cares for the worries we face in this world, we simply need to learn to trust in Him.

Just about every day I receive video's or doom and gloom messages about what is happening in the world around us. Sadly, these are coming from people who claim to be in Christ and trust in the Lord in all things. Therefore, I see a true contradiction in the sender's faith evidenced by the amount of worry and concern they have toward the things in this world, and I see a lack of trust that the Lord is in control. These messages show me nothing of any significance that is not already written in scripture about things that must happen as we draw closer to the day the Lord will return. As for what is happening in the world around me, I am excited that my soul is in the hands of my Lord and I have nothing to fear. Equally, I am motivated more and more to share the gospel to lost souls in this world as the day of my Lord's return grows closer.

Furthermore, these worldly messages, whether or not they are designed to articulate this, cause the receiver to focus on the things of this world instead of the things above. These messages are not from God, and they falsely present implications that should concern those who are in Christ. The Lord would want us to focus on the things above, such as His kingdom and our purpose of why we remain here in this dying world. The Lord does not want us to focus on the things that cause worry, fear, and distract our gaze from heaven. Thus, far too many who make the claim to be in Christ are consumed with being focused on the things of this world. Consequently, they are thinking and acting just as the world thinks and acts.

Therefore, we must, by FAITH, like a child who places their FULL trust in their parents, place our FULL trust in Christ! Moreover, we must not worry, as Jesus told us not to worry, and instead just let our Lord care for our lives in this world, as He sees fit. Therefore, anything else is nothing more than evidence of a lack of faith. Similarly, when the disciples were so worried about what was going on around them in the midst of the storm on the sea, thinking that they were going to die, they woke the Lord and said help us! Jesus got up, calmed the storm, and rebuked these disciples for their lack of faith. Hence, we need to let go of our lives in this world and trust in the Lord to bring us through whatever storm we may face. " Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5
