Set Your Minds On The Things Of The Spirit!

"Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." Romans 8:5 The Apostle Paul wrote, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." Colossians 3:2, and Proverbs 4:27 tells us, "Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your feet away from evil." If we are truly walking in the Spirit then the fruit of the Spirit will be evident in our lives. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying one another." Galatians 5:22-26

Furthermore, the Apostle Paul also wrote to the believers in Rome, "Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create divisions and obstacles that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Turn away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive." Romans 16:17-18 Moreover, in Paul's second letter to Timothy he wrote, "But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!" 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Therefore, do not walk in the ways of this world, full of its attractions and distractions that lead all who follow to their destruction. Paul wrote, "Join one another in following my example, brothers, and carefully observe those who walk according to the pattern we set for you. For as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body." Philippians 3:17-21
