The entire Bible, from Eve through Noah's day, Sodom, the people who escaped Egypt and so on... all was about self, and the scriptures throughout show the failings of mankind based on self.
Jesus and the Father continually made it very clear that self was not the will of God. God punished, laid down laws and even sent the Messiah to show the example of how selflessness was the key to salvation and of living in harmony. Jesus for example rejected the temptation of self in the desert and went to His death without consideration for self.
Yet here are "we Christians", who like many of the Hebrew people of old, follow a path built on self. Pride and privilege to the point of making themselves brides or whatever; me, me, me, we're saved and so on. I detect a conflict with God. Fruits clearly show which humans are of self (as is the world of man) and which are selfless (as is the Kingdom). One can only hope that this 'self' deception is rectified so that all may enjoy the blessing of the Kingdom.
