Seeking Christ While Struggling With Sin

Isaiah 55:6

Growing up in a drug addicted environment moulded my addictive personality traits, and made it easier to accept drugs from others and become addicted. Though Christ has set me free, I still struggle sometimes with drug abuse and making bad choices. Before when I would fall victim to sin, and smoke weed, it would keep me far from anything to do with the bible or God, but I have found that as time has gone by I no longer feel the conviction of smoking weed and reading my bible. The same thing would happen to me when I committed sin, I wouldn't read my bible or do any study that entire day, I would't pray or ask for forgiveness. I would feel ashamed and stay away from the presence of the Lord. Today, I have learned to seek God in all things, especially when I struggle. In fact, when I seek Him right after I commit sin, I feel a lot better, and able to ask for forgiveness and keep away from the various sin I was committing.

My suggestion is that even though you fail, maybe even daily, seek after God while you still can, even though the struggle. We always seem to pray and seek God while we are doing good, but never while we fail because we are ashamed, but we now have an advocate, Jesus Christ, who has redeemed us by His blood. Don't shy away from the Lord just because you fail, this is actually when we should ask for His help the most, His power to keep us from sin for a while.

Seek Christ while you struggle with sin!
