Salt Rock Lamps!

OK, this is a topic that I've literally been praying for discernment about for 2 whole weeks. I feel I've finally come to a solid, conclusive answer!

Salt rock lamps. Hmm... something that has been on my mind ALOT lately. To have or not to have? I have a few plug-in ones and several ones that require a tea light candle which I find quite annoying, although they are pretty when lit! The cost of tea lights which are relatively inexpensive but add up in the long run, especially if you use beeswax candles! Paraffin wax is "not healthy" to be lighting yet candle shops are making a TON of money with these.

The supposed "health effects" of owning a salt rock lamp. Now that I've sat down to actually think about it and rewind my brain a bit, are in my honest opinion, NIL.

Cures asthma? No. My second son has suffered bronchiolitis seasonally in the past as a child and since we bought a SRL he hasn't had as many attacks. But no, we did not notice any immediate effects from the SRL alone. He still suffered a few years later. Thankfully he hasn't had that in a very long time! I believe he outgrew it.

Deodorizer / air purifier? No. I put one upstairs by the boys' bedroom where that "boy smell" gets to be overpowering at times, this lamp did NOT deodorize that at all! (I don't think anything can! lol)

Prevents dust, allergens, etc... let's be honest here. Every house has those things no matter what you do. The only thing anyone can do to prevent all that is to stay on top of house cleaning! I have a wood stove in the middle of my house and according to the "research" I've looked up on multiple websites, this SRL should've been like a magical dusting fairy! Uh, no. My house is especially dusty from the stove and ash and such. It requires vacuuming and dusting, even on the SRL!

Reduces static? Definitely not, especially in the winter months!

Helps with autism. OK. When I read this, I nearly busted a gut with laughter. I've had a lamp in my living room where my son spends most of his time during the day and according to the "research", it should have helped him AGES ago. Nope! He's still as autistic as ever and nothing is going to change that! Unless he be miraculously healed by the love of God. I don't know. But yeah, that research is complete QUACK.

Boosts your mood! Probably one of the biggest reasons I fell hook, line and sinker to buy these things. Sigh. Yes, it looks pretty when it's plugged in and the amber glow is very calming. But many things can boost my mood! Should we rely on staring at a rock to boost our moods? Really? I recently bought one from Walmart in November. It has a wax warmer on top of the rocks and warming light bulb. It is super pretty and when I add my favourite candle wax, very relaxing! But I don't rely on that thing to "boost my mood". Besides, it's upstairs in my bedroom, I'd never leave the room if that were truly the case! LOL

Increases energy, lowers blood pressure.... exercise does that! I've never gotten my energy from a SRL.

Oh, and the BIGGEST pile of rubbish I found online.... it wards off evil spirits and negative "energies". As if! If THAT were the case, I never ever would've had ANY negative spiritual stuff happen to me AT ALL!
And, I never would've had to throw my evil-related things away to get it right with God and
then feel convicted by the Holy Spirit to have to write a testimony about my stupidity!
It rings to me like it's new age beliefs and we do NOT need to endorse any of THAT. NObody does. Be vigilant in all things!

I recently read that witches use salt rock lamps for all kinds of wonky stuff! They warm their hands on a heated salt rock to "cleanse after a ritual". I've visited several websites that have various ideas and uses for these lamps. Many sound occultish and come from occult websites. Sure, I would never use it for occult purposes, but I think it's best to err on the side of caution.

Since I've had a few over the course of several years, I can honestly say that they use expensive warming bulbs which can be hard to find locally but there's not been any physical health changes to prove any of those theories. I've since unplugged them and not lit up the tealights, just to see if there's any drastic "change" in the house and in us who occupy it. Plus, with my recent discoveries, I've prayed for discernment and I'm leaning towards it's not important to have these things in a Christian home.

I'm experimenting with them to see how long it takes to dissolve. A small one takes about 2 1/2 days! lol I wonder if it would be good to dissolved ice and snow on the patio? They are supposed to absorb moisture which that part was true! Nearly ruined a table over the summertime because the salt picked up the humidity and weeped it all over the place and onto the floor. Just a mess!

I've unplugged for a few days now and zero change. Better off buying an expensive actual air purifier with a hepa filter instead.

Matthew 5:13
You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

So therefore, we should be our own salt lamps, warm, glowing but salty for Christ!

Forget sugar-coating, get salty!
