Revelations Of Jesus: The Kingdom Pursuit

The word kingdom was used in the Gospels, Matthew to John, 120 times and 98% of the usage of this word was by Jesus. He talked the kingdom, teach the kingdom, live the kingdom! Over 50% of his parables starts with these words, "the KINGDOM of heaven is like unto....". When he taught us to pray the master said to pray, "Our father who art in heaven, thy KINGDOM comes.". The sermon on the mount was also about the kingdom, "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the KINGDOM of God...". And even when he cast out devil's and they accuse him, he says, "If I by the Spirit of God cast out devil's then the KINGDOM of God is come upon you!". For the master it was all about the kingdom!

And like Jesus, kingdom concern must become our primary pursuit. In Matthew 6:25-34 the master spelt this out in clear terms: take no thought for mundane things and you will never need them! Now that was a tough call and demand! Let’s read those words again.

‘Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than them? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble’

Maslow theory says the pursuit of humanity are food clothing significance etc but here Jesus said there are higher purpose to devote our lives to - seek the kingdom! Come up to the higher life. The higher life requires higher demands.

Commit your life to a higher purpose and you will achieve better results. That was what the master proffered here: “let your life be focused on God's and God's focus will be on you". And when God's focus is on you, you will be free of life's worries!
