Revelations Of Jesus: I Am The Light

The light of Jesus is what brings us into the limelight of life! Isaiah 60:1-3 tell us the significance of light:

"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising."

The Lord is that light! He will arise over you this day and His glory shall be seen on you!

We shine in the world when we receive the light of the Lord! That light comes to us from the word! In John 1: 1-5 we were introduced to that light. "In him was life and the life was the light of men, and this light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not"!

This light guarantees life even in the midst of darkness. It was here in John the light was introduced to us, but later on in John 8:12 we were given further insights, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

The light introduce himself as 'I am' and then as the light! This is what we will explore in this study on the revelations of Jesus

Light puts us in the spotlight and brings us into the limelight of life. "Ye are the lights of the world; a city set on a hill cannot be hidden". Our lives can no longer be hidden for we have been lightened by the light of the lord. Jesus is that light! From his light we received light to shine to our world(Isaiah 60:1) Psalm 36:9 says "For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light." The source of our light is the light of the Lord!

At the feast of the tabernacle, Jesus made the second “I am" statements: "I am the light of the world"(John 8:12) in other words 'without my light the world is lost! The only way out of darkness is to follow my light'. Here as well, by claiming to be light Jesus was expressly claiming to be God! Because God is light and in him is no darkness at all!

From the Old Testament from which some of the Sadducees and Pharisees can relate to, God manifested as light! When He first appeared to Moses it was in the light of the burning bush! When He led the children of Israel through the wilderness it was like a cloud of pillar by the day, and pillar of fire by night and with His light he guarded them and guided them! The light was the manifestation of the "I am that I am God"!

Jesus claimed this same class as God in John 8:12 but also went forward in Acts 26:13 to appear to Paul as like a light "above the brightness of the sun”! Though in Malachi he was referred to as the “Sun of righteousness" but here Paul made us understand this is no ordinary sun - it shines above the brightness of the sun and with power! Hallelujah!

It was not just a physical light, it was a spiritual light! When this light shines on you it throws you into the spotlight and brings you to the limelight of life (Isaiah 60:1-3)
