Revelation 4

The Throne in Heaven

Rev 4:1 After this I looked
And behold
A door was opened in heaven

And the first voice which I heard
Was as it were of a trumpet talking with Me
Which said

Come up here
And I will shew You things which must be hereafter

Rev 4:2 3 And immediately I was in the spirit
And behold
A throne was set in heaven
And one sat on the throne

And He that sat was to look upon like a jasper
And a sardine stone

And there was a rainbow round about the throne
In sight like unto an emerald

Gen_9:13 I do set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between Me and the earth.

Rev 4:4 And round about the throne
Were twenty four seats
And upon the seats I saw
Twenty four elders sitting
Clothed in white raiment
And they had on their heads crowns of gold

Twenty four; two sets of twelve. The number twelve is the number of Ruler-ship. There is here then two set of twelve. One set of twelve Rulers from the Old Testament and another set of the twelve disciples who stayed with the Lord Jesus during His earthly ministry.

1Co_4:8 Now you are full, now you are rich, you have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

Rev 4:5-6 And out of the throne
Proceeded lightnings
And thunderings and voices

And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne
Which are the seven Spirits of God.

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal

And in the midst of the throne and round about the throne
Were four beasts full of eyes before and behind

These were not literal beast as like unto animals; these were arsume spirits.

Four in the Bible scriptures is the number of creative works .These are then the four which accomplish the works of The Creator, Elohim. They are all knowing, full of eyes, that is, knowledge.

Rev 4:7-8 And the first beast was like a lion Strong, fierce
And the second beast like a calf – Gentile
And the third beast had a face as a man – Human characteristics
And the fourth beast was like a flying eagle – Spirit

And the four beasts
Each of them had six wings about him
And they were full of eyes within

And they rest not day and night
Saying
Holy, holy, holy (sacredness)

Lord God Almighty
Which was
And is
And is to come

Notice the title used here: Lord God Almighty. There is in the Bible scripture, many titles used when referencing The Creator. Each of these has it's own reason and purpose. God is The Creator of all things, The LORD God, is Jehovah, The Ruler of the creation. This is important to know when studying the book of Genesis.

Here we have the Lord God, Jehovah Elohim, The Ruler of His creation being mentioned first.
The Almighty is Shaddai, the Almighty. Hence the tree hollies.

Rev 4:9 And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to Him that sat on the throne
Who lives for ever and ever

The twenty four elders fall down before Him that sat on the throne
And worship Him that lives for ever and ever
And cast their crowns before the throne

Twenty four elders;there was twelve tribes in the original Israel, thus twelve elders of the tribes. Here is another twelve added for the new Kingdom which is formed in the heavenly realm. All this then points to Israel and not to the entire world as such. One must be very careful when reading this book of Revelation so that it does not get pulled out of context in the way that it has by man and his churches. One can not understand this book without first understanding the Old Testament writings which tell of what is in the book of Revelation.

Created


Rev 4:10 The four and twenty elders fall down before Him

That sat on the throne
And worship Him that lives for ever and ever
And cast their crowns before the throne

Saying
You are worthy O Lord

To receive glory
And honor
And power

For You have created all things
And for Your pleasure they are and were created
