  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Repentant or Rebellious?

“Zion will be redeemed with justice
And her repentant ones with righteousness.
But transgressors and sinners will be crushed together,
And those who forsake the Lord will come to an end.” (Isaiah 1:27-28 NASB1995)

Zion, under the New Covenant, is in reference to the city of God, the people of God, i.e. to God’s spiritual kingdom, the heavenly Jerusalem, the body of Christ, his church, which is also in reference to Christ Jesus being the head of the church and the cornerstone of that spiritual building, which is not a physical building, but the people of God who believe in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of their lives. So Jesus Christ is also Zion, for we are his body, and he is the cornerstone of this spiritual kingdom referred to as Zion.

[Romans 9:33; Hebrews 12:18-24; 1 Peter 2:4-10]

So, today, this would be like saying the city of God, the people of God who are of genuine faith in Jesus Christ, who have died with Christ to sin, and who have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as servants of righteousness in obedience to our Lord and to his commands. We have been redeemed, i.e. bought back for God out of our lives of slavery to sin, with the blood of Christ shed for us on that cross, so that we can now serve and obey God/Christ with our lives.

It is the repentant ones who will be redeemed with righteousness. For to repent is to have a change of heart and mind, resulting in a change of behavior. In the Scriptures, those who repented of their sins ceased with sinning against God deliberately and habitually, and they then served God with their lives in surrender to his will, in his power, in walks of obedience to his commands in holy living. For repentance is not just saying you are sorry, but it involves dying to your sin and obeying God (see 1 John 1:5-10)

So, all those who continue in deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord, and who do not truly repent of their sins, and who do not obey our Lord’s commandments (under the New Covenant), in practice, they will not inherit eternal life with God unless they turn from their sins and they now follow Jesus Christ with their lives in holy living, in obedience to his commands, by God-persuaded and God-gifted faith in Jesus, and in the power of God. And this will include many who presently profess faith in Jesus Christ, too.

For Our Nation

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
