The ancient Church has always seen Christ as a new Adam. Christ, especially on Good Friday is like a reverse image of Adam on the day of the Fall. Rather than disobeying God, partaking of Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and bringing about death and separation from God, Christ in obedience to God, is crucified on a cross made from a dead tree, but his obedience brings life to humanity and reconciliation with God.
Anyway in being identified with Adam, and humanity, Christ would need to be crucified on a Friday because that was the day in Genesis that Adam was created, on the Sixth day of Creation. Besides this that is also the day that Adam Fell according to Jewish and Early Church tradition, so Friday is important because of this kind of Biblical Typology.
