Practical Means Of Our Sanctification

"So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work." (2 Timothy 2:21 AMPC)

Our sanctification is two-fold, the Lord God in His infinite mercy purges us (John 15:2) and we also need to purge ourselves of some things.
There is therefore no excuse to continue with unholy life and character. When the Lord reveals them to us, our question should be "is it my duty to remove these or the Lord's?". When it is in our domain to remove them, we receive grace from God to execute it, when it is the Lord's, we pray to Him for help to remove them. The two levels of sanctification above require total dependence on God in prayers.
The next question is "how do I know when a step of sanctification is required from me or the Lord?". Most of our sanctifications that depend on us are external while those that depend on God are internal. There are times that they are interwoven, for instance, chatting with a friend about unprintable graphic descriptions of illicit affairs is first internal then external. You need to pray to God for cleansing on the inside then take action by refraining from responding to such messages and receiving courage from God to put an end to such an unholy relationship.

ACTION PLAN: There is no excuse for our continuation in sin and sinful habits. We need to approach God for help and take responsibilities.

PRAYER: Father, purge my life of every uncleanness and help me to take actions where necessary.
