Part 10 - The Gospel: Good News For All Mankind

In the Gospel according to John, Jesus explains to Nicodemus what a person must do to gain eternal life. Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Can he enter his mother's womb a second time to be born?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit. Do not be amazed that I said, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and you do not understand these things? Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, and yet you people do not accept our testimony" (John 3:3-11).

Salvation is a life-changing event whereby spiritual rebirth transpires through the act of faith (total trust) and complete surrender where one becomes a new creation. Once someone becomes a born-again believer they are filled with the Holy Spirit (God), and all of their sins are forgiven through the sacrificial blood of Jesus. This is what Jesus was explaining to Nicodemus. Furthermore, once someone gains a new spiritual life there will be evidence of this transformation by the fruit of the spirit, and as a born-again Christian, they will choose to forsake their life here on earth to serve the kingdom of heaven. In other words, the born-again Christian makes the eternal decision to surrender their own "will" forevermore and instead live their lives here on earth focused on doing the "will" of the Father, the Almighty God.

Regrettably, there are far too many who make the claim to be a Christian and are in fact victims of a deceptive false doctrine that teaches a cruel lie designed by Satan. This lie, much like the deceptive lie Eve believed in the garden, will leave the one who believes in it eternally separated from God. Satan is the father of lies and seeks to rob would be converts of their very souls. Unlike the true Gospel plan as explained throughout this blog, the full surrender of one's life to serve the kingdom, this well constructed and believable lie requires no more than a simple prayer for salvation. Sadly, nowhere in the bible will you find this simple formula.

On the contrary, Jesus taught us something much deeper and more demanding than a vocal promise prayed on an emotional occasion to free ourselves from hell. He requires we literally surrender our lives to serve the kingdom of heaven. Furthermore, Satan's deceitful teaching, taught in countless modern churches around the world, usually does not stop there. This hopeless doctrine will then give new so-called converts a set of rules or guidelines to follow like: you must now go to church regularly, read from the bible, remember to pray, and seek to live a godly life and you will be good to go. All of this sounds great! However, you do not have to be a Christian to follow any of these guidelines as is evidenced by countless religious people around the world.

Jesus knew Satan would deceive the masses with many false doctrines that are filled with deceitful lies. The Lord Jesus said we would know the true Christian, those who abide in Him, by their fruit! "Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thorn-bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, by their fruit you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness'" (Matthew 7:15-23). Hence, if you are not sure if you are a born-again Christian it is not too late to commit your life to the Lord. If you do not you will surely perish forevermore in the end.

Therefore, how do we gain eternal life (become born again) and citizenship in heaven? You now know that as a sinner you are separated from God. If you remain in this state, you surely will eternally remain separated from God and experience eternal death as a citizen of this world. God's loving plan for you is that, through the sacrifice of His son Jesus, you can reconnect with Him through full surrender of your life to receive eternal life and citizenship in heaven. Once you fully surrender all He will send to dwell within you the Holy Spirit promised by the Lord Jesus Christ before departing for heaven. Thus, if you have not made this full surrender then do it right now! Do not let Satan win the battle for your soul. He will tell you that you will be missing so much in this world if you listen to God, which is what he told Eve. Yet, the truth is that he is a liar and does not care about anyone but himself. Give your life to the Lord now before it is too late.

I pray that you have surrendered your life and have become my eternal brother or sister in the Lord. If you have, you are now a citizen of heaven and a true child of God. Be in prayer always seeking God for guidance, wisdom, and forgiveness. Love others, not in your own strength, but let God love others through you. Yield to His Spirit as He seeks to guide and grow you. Live each day for the Lord! Moreover, the Lord has given us who are born again a commission. After Jesus was resurrected, He met with his disciples on a mountain in Galilee and told them what they must do. He commissioned all of his disciples to go out and evangelize to all people throughout the whole world. Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:16-20).

As previously stated, it is not too late for you to be sure of your salvation! Repent from a worldly life based on satisfying your own desires and surrender your life to serve the kingdom of heaven. It is time to seek the Lord to find out what His will is for your life. The world is full of those who have real needs, won't you join in with our Lord and be used to help them? This is what we are called to do in Christ - to share His love and good news to the world each day until He calls us home. As a follow-on to this e-blog, there are two more e-books you can download. They are titled: Walk as Jesus Walked – Volume I: The Teachings of Jesus and Walk as Jesus Walked – Volume II: Growing in Christ available for your spiritual growth in you walk with the Lord.
