Obtain Mercy

"although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief." (I Timothy 1:13 NKJV)

Paul was an injurious man to the church Jesus left behind. He persecuted and opposed her. By God's mercy, he was converted and became a weapon of war in God's hands.
It is the mercy of God that bring a sinner to repentance. 'To obtain' is to receive and there is no receiver without a giver. God loves the world so much and He sent His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
After his conversion, Paul never looked back. He pressed on with God. How come we are so encumbered today with our past lives?
"that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death," (Philippians 3:10 NKJV)
The knowledge of Christ became Paul's pursuit in life. There is no vacuum in life. If you do not occupy your life with the pursuit of God, your old life will definitely resurface.

ACTION PLAN: Identify the areas of your life where your past is raising it's ugly head.

PRAYER: 1. Father, deal with every area of my life where my past life is raising it's ugly head.
2. Help me oh Lord to increase in my knowledge of Christ.
