1 A prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. The Lord’s Anger Against Nineveh In the book of Jonah we see an angry prophet warning the Ninevites, they repent, and God has mercy on them. But that repentance is short lived, and now Nahum tells us what is going to happen to them. Jonah is the “shot across the bow”, a warning shot. They saw a man, brought to their shores in the belly of a fish. It caused them to repent, but it was superficial, like the seed that falls on rocky soil, springs up quickly and soon withers. In Jonah God asks if his anger is right, but in Nahum we see the Lord’s righteous anger.
