My Phantom Beloved (poem)

My phantom beloved how I wish you were mine.
Our destinies echo in this haunt across time.
Your name is a vapor. Your touch is the wind.
Your love - the moonlight. My heart you have pinned.

The world waxes darker. The moon shrinks into night.
But your smile, beloved, makes the stars remain bright.
Peace, it is taken. And men live by the sword.
But love promised is worth fighting for.

Nations may shift like the turbulent seas.
And sirens sound with their sweet melodies.
But I drown out their noise, and my eyes they are fixed
On a stable horizon and excitement of bliss.

As the veil begins lifting, fog reveals what is true.
I await the day that brings me to you.
Soon the door shall be opened, and delay shall be gain.
The wait will be over, and our worlds remade.
