This is why I think God loves irony. The fact I am now becoming an "amazing zealous catholic" while at the same time my best friend is a lapsed Muslim. God likes to throw a spanner in the works of our nice neat theories.
He's Indian but he was never brought up very seriously at all. He read the Koran so all the stuff I am reading in the OT is old hat to him. But he witnessed the danger of religious zeal in his country. And it turned him off religion altogether. You wouldn't meet a more humble guy. Except me maybe. We get on well because of our lack of secular success perhaps. He's a better listener than me, I have to admit.
Which makes me put my current zeal in perspective. Sometimes the nicest people in the world have no agendas. Don't have a need to force a gospel on to you. They are easygoing. Maybe they have innate trust in the Lord, without them knowing. God works through non-Christians as well. But I guess that assertion is bound to upset some of you.
