The Gospel reading at Today's Mass. " Anyone who prefers their mother or father to me is not worthy of me. Anyone who prefers son or daughter to me is not worthy of me."
Well, my parents are dead and I don't have kids, so ? I do love my partner and dog though. And I still pray for my parents. that they will or have already "made it" to Heaven land.
Interesting that He challenges us to break the Commandment of honouring our parents, to my way of thinking. Or should I say, He reinforces the importance of loving God above all else. This loving God business is so so important.
I'm like many people. I often don't feel worthy? But hang on. Is that just a cop out? That is not the same as humility. So easy to get confused here.
This is a really important Gospel passage though. I need to read more commentaries on it. "Anyone who welcomes you, welcomes me." There's that love your neighbour stuff again. Falling short again I'm afraid
