Having 6 weeks away from CF has been good for me. I think I was getting too big for my boots. Starting to believe my own hype. My identity becoming 100% defined by the persona of "bettercallpaul". This is yet another danger of Internet forums. We are much more than who we are here. More dynamic.
I once defined myself by my occupation. I was an elementary school teacher for 10 years. I started to behave like a teacher in my free time. Very serious. Too proud of my own opinion. It is only as I get older that I can gradually let go of status defining labels.
I sometimes doubt my attempts at holiness and piety. I feel like an imposter often. And praying to God can be like "am I delusional?" Still struggle with the Lords Prayer and the Hail Mary. The words feel archaic. Maybe the Protestants are right to recite free verse prayer.
Wouldn't it be great for us catholics if Catholicism really was the truth! But seems like when there are winners, there have to be losers. So the Protestants get like a consolation prize? And the Buddhists doomed to groundhog day karmas in Hell? And the Muslims get nothing at all? It cant be so simple as that? God is smarter than that. I reckon he has got a soft spot for all the humble people in the world, Catholic or not. And the ones who get the short end of the stick in life. Dogmas wont matter in the long run. It will be the heart that counts. Your heart has to be in the right place! The intellect is overvalued in my view.
