Leadership Lessons From 1 Samuel 17 - The Leader's Words

David used the power of words to great effect as he sounds out and rallies the whole Israeli Army to defeat the philistine!

'This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand, and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.'(1 Samuel 17:46-48)

With a few inspiring words that point the eyes of the people away from the odds that were against them and to the God that was for them, David inspired an unusual Israeli victory that many continue to draw inspiration from today.

Throughout history, the words of men have always shaped our world!

It was Marthin Luther who said, ‘I have a dream' and with those immortal words inspired a new America where everyone is truly free and equal!

'Think not of what your nation can do for you but what you can do for your nation' were the words of JFK that inspired the average American citizen to a new level of patriotism and service to the nation. Not only Americans draw inspiration from these words today.

The Gettysburg's address by Lincoln was given hundreds of years back and yet the impact of these words continues to impact the politics and governance of nations. “That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." And so democracy continues to live on as more and more nations embrace it as the ideal form of governance.

Those words birthed a new American unity and from the ruins of the war there was raised a mighty nation!

These are words that reverberate through history and changed the course of humanity!

Job 6:25 says ‘how forcible are right words’ The right words will elicit the right response from followership.
