Judging With Mercy Is A Work.

I was given an opportunity to meditate on the following verses earlier because someone quoted the "I never knew you" from Matthew 7 and the "everyone is judged according to their works" (framed as following the Mosaic commandments) in the book of Revelation.
(Matthew 7:2, James 2:12-14, Matthew 18, Matthew 18:21-35, Romans 2:1-6)
.
So Matthew 7:2 is a popular verse because it is a Jesus saying, that you will be judged the same way that you judge others, the same way you measure others so will you be measured.
.
In James 2:12-14 it relates Faith Without Works is Dead and Judging with Mercy, and ties in that we should speak and act though we have been forgiven or we will be judged as though we are not forgiven. Matthew 18:21-35 is a context parable for this idea, that God doesn't tolerate hypocrites. It seems in connection with the being under the law, and hatred of an earlier blog post of mine, judging without mercy seems to negate the protection Salvation brings, and life starts to progress as if you never were saved and the judgment without mercy continues until the debt is paid off or you repent and learn to judge others and the God described by these scriptures with mercy.
.
Romans 2:1-6 is another passage that addresses the complex that many believers develop when they begin to see God as a judge and not much else. Main points, if you judge others according to their sins, you will be judged according to yours, God is showing people kindness so they will repent, being wrathful towards them is counter productive and can result in disciplinary action. This passage is also connected to the statement "you will be judged according to your deeds" therefore judgment with mercy is a work, it's really hard work actually, the flesh instinctively does the opposite.

Self examination is always a good thing, stay healthy.
