Okay, so my studies stated this was an act of humility. Naturally I was like whaaattt?
In Jesus’ time, a donkey was rarely ridden on by anyone aside from women, children, and the weak. So why is this humble?
I did some research.
The part I did not process is this:
Think of it this way. An American Revolution Military General walks into a battle on foot, when he could be riding a horse. He would be much safer on the horse, but that is not the point. His status would be known to all if he was on horseback.
Jesus could have come in on a horse or something much greater. But He chose a donkey. Again, donkeys were known for their status of carrying women, children, the elderly, and the weak. Humble. Beautiful. Humble.
