Many people talk about a reward or blessing that often follows hardships, but through the hardship we should never lose sight of God or stop trusting in Him even if hanging on just by a thread. That to me seems to be the whole point. I guess the priorities of some people looking forward to a blessing or reward for their loyalty or as an incentive for sticking it out, are still worldly minded in expectation and on a path that will eventually lead to disappointment.
Matthew 6: 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
