The question isn't, Should I? The question is, How? Should I love someone who has been bad to me? How should I love someone who's been bad to me?
Holding the door for a guy that tried to rape one of my closest friends was the most transformative door I've ever held. I hate what he did, and sometimes I hated him for doing it. But what good does that do? I was not in a position to take legal action...I was not in a position to do anything.
But God wants me to love. So I loved.
I held the door.
And that undid the bitterness in my soul; the kind that I wanted to hurt him, but was only hurting me.
Please try to do the same; even just praying for them when you can't meet them is a wonderful thing to do. It makes you such a better person, and heals you from wounds you didn't know you had.
