Recently, a friend of mine has gotten me thinking about Islam. And since it doesn't make sense to me, I am hoping that some of my dear CF buddies can help me.
For instance, the whole People of the Book thing confuses me. Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding that good Muslims are supposed to respect Christians and Jews because we are "close to accepting Allah's will." But at the same time the terrorists (that is a minority, right?) are waging Jihad on us. How does that fit in with respecting us?
Extramarrital sex is not condoned, so why would Allah reward men with 7 virgins after giving their lives in Jihad, and killing innocent people?
Muslims say that Jesus was a prophet, a good teacher. But that can't be true because he claimed to be God, and was killed on the cross for it. Or do they believe that? Is He just another martyr, another person killed for Allah's cause? How can a liar be a good prophet?
I suppose some answers would come to me if I actually read the Koran, but I have no desire to do so, and even if I did, my dad would probably kill me. Figuratively of course. The God I serve would not put up with some of the actions that the terrorists take. Like I said before, I think (and hope) that the terrorists are just a minority, but still. There is no such thing as Allah. Only God.
