His will is that we spend more time on following His will than our own, which brings up an often overlooked point. Jesus said His gospel, His only good news, was the Gospel of the Kingdom which He mentions at least 70 times in the four books and Paul preached the same gospel constantly as mentioned three times.
If this Kingdom/governance of God, was so important then why has Christianity been so rude as to take away the importance of the good news of the Father living among us again? Something important enough to declare as His Gospel and even put into the Lord's prayer. Why turn things around to make it all about what's in it for us?
It's like daddy getting a raise but the selfish kids aren't concerned about being happy for him, but instead what they can get out of it as a result. Think about it.
That simple twist has gone right back to the original sin of man putting our will before His and neutralizing any benefit of resurrection and chance of a relationship with Him. God does not live in and work through the self centred. Yet a religion has been built around that very self interest concept that got us evicted from the Garden.
'Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven'. Not 'it's all about what's in it for me', but that is what the focus has become. This 'religious' tradition is no doubt the result of when the institutionalized church turned itself away from the Kingdom and whored itself to the governments of man 1700 years ago (and never and looked back). The blind have led the blind ever since. A twist that not only covered up the institutional Church's traitorous act, but also led us back into acting in an adversarial manner to the will of God that no one seems to notice.
Something to think about next time we get all giddy about ourselves, taking the spotlight off of Jesus' good news about the Father, let alone the spotlight off of the Father Himself.
