well, the wow's just don't quit coming ...
I want to talk this morning about 'in the spirit of ' ...
that's a whole nether concept ... I guess I'll start with how my dad explained it to me since he was the first who explained ... he said, 'look at it this way ... you carry the spirit of your grandma, in that your family comes first to you over anyone else but the Lord' ... so that was my first understanding of 'in the spirit of' ... in those moments I'm carrying the 'spirit' of my grandma' in essence ... definition of essence ... taking on the characteristics of ...
It's hard for me to believe it's possible to understand worshipping the Lord or serving the Lord in the Spirit without first understanding what it means to be in the spirit of something ... or to understand something in the spirit in which it was intended ... many would say it's grace that is the meaning ... I don't see it that way ... but ... who knows ... I can be wrong, too ...
I see grace in the eyes of the world's view (in the manner it's wielded) as often a stumblingblock to other things ... I in no way mean the grace that was gifted to us when Jesus died for us on the cross that bittersweet day ...
the word grace is so often recklessly and valuelessly handled and tossed around like it's a form of currency that makes one an instant billionare of grace to spend on forgiveness ... so I imagine there will be those who say I'm being judgemental ... I say discerning ... no judgement ... and so would begin the battle of that word ... the never-ending battle of words to 'understand' legally (by law) the Spirit ... :o
I try hard to understand that line of thinking ... but I truly just don't get it ...
sooo ... it comes across like this ...
take the law and disqualify it
make grace the base of all things
therefore, removing the spirit of the law
which was intended to give man guidelines of good understandings of which enable one to obey the Lord and affor us a better quality of life ...
then when a person, in any which way, shape, or form suggests something you disagree with ... something that is felt 'in THE Spirit' of the other person ... something that was said in purity of thought ...
assume you know their intention
so use the LAW of the letter of grace to condemn them without grace or understanding of the spirit in which it was intended ... just can't wrap my head around that ...
etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. ....
well, I don't know what to say to convey how I feel about that ... other than I don't believe the Lord comes that way to a person with pure intent if they've made a mistake ... He is love ... He comes ... He sends someone in love ... but never to hurt ... and never without grace, justice, and mercy ... and never a lot of things about that ... if one just doesn't listen up long enough ... he might send someone harsh and cold ... who knows ... I just don't believe He starts that way in molding and cleansing us ... the Lord I know doesn't just stand around waiting for you to slip up so He can pounce on you ... I see it more as if he sends a messenger ... the messenger will come in love, grace ... and the rest ...
from my window, grace is the gift that makes it possible to overcome the law ... not the thing that undoes the law or discredits the law or any of that ... too many times in the NT a verse references laws of the OT while applying it to use ...
the big wow for me ...
Matthew 24:8,10
the destruction of the temple and signs before hand
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
we can see this every where we look in the world ... people pointing fingers, demanding others justify themselves, spending countless hours 'discussing' what others should have done, splitting and dividing the people constantly ... he said and did ... she said and did ... the spirit of grace is diminishing before our very eyes ... or should I say the blessings of it are dissolving ... and the letter of the law is becoming what things are judged upon ... a definiton I was so kindly given this morning of His Vengance ...
kind of a desiderata ... plural for desideratum ... meaning something desired or need ... often desperately ... but lacking ...
the understanding ... the wilderness ... a noticeable lack of blessings ... spiritually thirsty and dry as a bone in a valley of bones ...etc. ...
back to in the spirit of
while I was doing a study on another subject a while back I gained a much larger understanding of in the spirit of than I would have ever believed ...
some of the spirits of
the spirit of Moses
the spirit of Elijah
the spirit of Jehu
the spirit of Jezebel
the spirit of Jonah
in the Spirit ... the Lord's Spirit ...
the spirit of Moses is the spirit of the law
the spirit of Elijah is the fire of the Holy Spirit
the spirit of Jehu is the ability to stand ... there was a time Elijah became afraid of Jezebel ... he went and hid ... it was Jehu who stood
the spirit of Jezebel is the spirit of hate for the Lord's people ... and so much more!
the spirit of Jonah is the teacher of the word ...
so many more ...
the Holy Spirit is the Lord, Himself's Spirit ...
so ...
when you, for example, give a message about a subject you are giving it in the spirit of something ... it could be the Spirit of the Lord ... or it could be the spirit of understanding a subject ... or the spirit of delivering a message ...
you can give a message without being 'in the Spirit' and still give it in the spirit of the way the verses were intended ... the message can be given with a spirit of pure intent or not ... we're not allowed to judge that ...
all that being said ... wow! so the beginning of sorrows most likely has to do with His Vengance ... I was called out on saying one of Jesus names was Vengence ... He is the Avenger ... and I saw it as the same thing ... a great deal to do with thinking it was one of His names was it's capitalized in my Bible ... but ... again the Lord led me to not look at it personally, float up, and see the bigger picutre ...
I guess I can only know that, regardless if others don't understand ... I pray my intent was good ... or something ... not sure I even had an intent ...
all I know is it's the beginning of sorrows when no grace is afforded with our conversations ... and I'm seeing an awful lot of letter of the law stuff going on all over the world ... but the scariest is what's happening right here in America and what's happening Christian to Christian ... sorrowful, indeed ...
