In Honor of Life...

Every year about this time (Halloween), a
grand celebration of death permeates society
as we know it in America. I have chosen my
words deliberately, and there is no innocent
fun in this 'holiday'. Fear and death are chief
enemies to all humankind... believers will treat
it as such.

Reading in Ephesians 2 this morning, and
hiding in the truth of life Paul speaks of:

Ephesians 2:4-9 (ESV)
4) But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great
love with which He loved us,
5) even when we were dead in our trespasses, made
us alive together with Christ- by grace you have
been saved-
6) and raised us up with Him and sealed us with Him in
the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7) so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable
riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8) For by grace you have been saved through faith.
And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
9) not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

When we were dead in our sin, God made us alive! This life
is the liberty of the believer... and we are not in bondage
to anything of this world's system!

As in so many years passed, I am celebrating the life
freely given to me by a merciful God whose love is my
eternal hope. And because Jesus is the 'life giving Spirit',
may He see the dead around me, and bring life to them
as He lives through me.
