If you had loved me, you would not have let me stew in my misery, confusion, and depression. A few lines would have cleared everything- but you did not love me.
I do not mean to say you would have necessarily said “I love you and want you.” But if you loved me as a friend, you would have said “No, I do not love you because ...” and then told me why instead of letting me drive myself to distraction thinking of all the different hypotheses.
