How To Free Yourself From The Ego

What is the ego exactly and where did it come from ? When mankind fell into duality as shown in the story of Adam and Eve " If you partake of this fruit you will be as a god knowing good and evil " which separates us from God and all others our souls couldn't bare being alone from The Creator so the ego was created by our souls so we wouldn't be alone . The ego is like a computer program that takes over everything when we don't make a conscious act of doing something . Do I really want to eat that candy bar is it good for me ? , do I really need to buy that don't I have enough stuff already ? do I really need to take that drink ? the ego takes over and it will never get enough of anything it always wants more and if you let it will ruin your life even if it kills your soul thereby killing itself . The story of Frankenstein is about the ego something dead that its creator infuses with "energy " and becomes alive and takes over goes out of control killing everything the doctor loves until it kills him too. Everyone is aware of the concept of ego manics you can see them every night in the news the politicians in Washington , Hollywood they always seem to be wearing a mask you never see their souls through their smug looks or phony smiles for the camera. But the ego is more subtle than that until you know how it works the games it plays like competition games , love and hate games, security games, control games. Once you see the games than you free yourself from them so the ego doesn't take you down with it. You can see the ego in how people defend their thought beliefs arguing back and forth on who's beliefs are better even going into hate of another cause of a belief which it will defend until the death then you know this is the ego. Of course the ego can never enter Heaven because it is born of this world and as Jesus told us " And no man hath ascended up to Heaven , but he that came down from Heaven " John 3:13 this is what Jesus was telling us about removing the beam in our eye the ego instead of looking at the mote in other people . So how do we lessen the pull on the ego by not feeding our energy too it not focusing so much of our attention on the things or people of this world who are trapped by their egos cause guess what ? the ego loves other egos . When you talk through the heart or make decisions from the heart than the ego can't control you. It is like our soul and our ego are in a 2 man boat and you are trying to get ashore if you drop the oars the ego will pick them up and row the opposite way . Its a lot of work freeing yourself from it I struggle with it all the time , but it is important cause the only way the prince of this world can get to you is through the ego who wants the things of this world.
