Hope In The Valley Of Dry Bones

'Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord ,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.”'(Ezekiel 37:3 NLT)

The situation in homes, churches and the societies are presently like the dead, dry bones in this scripture. People have become dead to God and godliness. They are not only dead, but are also dried up in immoralities.
Sin is wrecking serious havoc in different lives even in the church. This has made the church to become impotent, powerless and hopeless. Sin is a reproach to any people! Anyone that is living in sin is dead while he or she is alive. Sin makes someone to become dead to God.
Our focus this morning will be on Ezekiel's attitude towards a dead and hopeless situation. Let us glean from his life of hope. God asked him if the dry bones in that valley can become living people. He responded with hope and faith in God. “O Sovereign Lord ,” he replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” he was not without hope. The Bible says "And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."(Romans 5:5 NLT). He had hope that will not lead to disappointment: his hope was in God. Do we also have such hope in God? Do we also recognise that the Sovereign God can turn dead situations around? What are we building our hope on? My prayer is that we will be able to echo with the hymn writer that sang

"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
When darkness veils his lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
His oath, his covenant, his blood
Supports me in the 'whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay"(https://www(dot)musixmatch(dot)com/)

ACTION PLAN: 1. We need to ask God to bring us out of our hopelessness.
2. We need to confess our sins of losing hope in His powers.
3. We must stop placing our hope on mortal man.

PRAYER: 1. Oh Lord forgive us for losing hope and becoming hopeless.
2. Holy Spirit renew our hope in God.
