Hope In A Time Like This

"The Lord takes pleasure in those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy and loving-kindness." (Psalm 147:11 AMPC)

Our God takes pleasure in those who hope in His mercy and loving-kindness. The word I will like us to focus on this morning is HOPE.
Hope: to expect with confidence (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).
What is it that you are expecting with confidence? That hymn writer says:
"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus' name"
What gives you assurance that it will manifest? Many systems that has been built for many years and relied heavily upon by many are collapsing. I ask again, what gives you assurance that what you expect in life will come through?
There is only one way to be sure that your expectation will not be cut short: It is to rely on God's mercy and loving-kindness. This special favour is reserved for those who confess and turned away from their sins. They are able to achieve this through faith in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is the beginning of the collapse of everything else we trust in outside God's mercy. My friend, the earlier you realise this fact, the better for your journey. Anyone who expects God's mercy will not be disappointed.

ACTION PLAN: Conduct a thorough check of your hope in life. What gives you hope? Is it the mercy of God or something else?

PRAYER: LORD, I repent of my sin of trusting in any other thing. Send me help to trust in Your mercy.
