Holy Spirit: Our Competitive Advantage(2)

The church of Jesus Christ has been ordained by heaven to be a carrier of His power to the world. This is the original intention of God for Zion. In Psalm 110:1-3, God bears out his mind on the purpose of the church.

"The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth." (Psalm 110:1-3)
God's mind on this is clear - out of Zion God's strength shall be manifested to the world.

What should come out of the church is the power of God and not the customs of the world. For the lord "will send forth the rod of His strength out of Zion". This should be Zion's spiritual by-product - the power of God bringing transformation to the world. Alas, our modern day churches look more like entertainment centers rather than supernatural centers!

Our churches today looks more like a one-stop shop centers where you can get everything and anything you want. Steve Hills, of blessed memory, and one of the leading evangelists during the Florida, Pensacola revival in the 90s wrote in His last book before departing into glory, SPIRITUAL AVALANCHE, of how just about anything comes from the church. He said:

" There is something for everyone. The church starts to offer classes for everything from weight loss to self-defense. Nearly every interest in the church is covered by a specialized life group. The atmosphere of community is fostered and the church begins to grow".

Growth that will last only until another fad comes into the church. Only growth built on the power and wisdom of God will last.

The church cannot be everything to everyone. The church has its work and identity defined. David said, "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary"(Psalm 63:1-2). What David experienced at the sanctuary was the raw power of God and he got somewhere in his journey he longed again for that power!

In another place, David said in Psalm 73:16-17, "When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end". Here another purpose of Zion was defined, a place of revelation and understanding! In Psalm 77:13 this was further affirmed, 'Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?'. Zion is a place for expounding the ways of God and not the strategies of the world!

There are places today where they major on business strategies than on spiritual principles! There is nothing wrong with having all these but the motive for having them is what is crucial. Could it be a makeup strategy because the church has failed in its primary calling of been a purveyor of the power of God to the world? No matter the rational justification that is given, Zion is a meant to be a revelation center and not an entertainment center!

Everything David said of the church in the Psalms will see the church walked in the reality of in Acts of the Apostles. The church became a place of power! A place of revelation! Paul the Apostle led a strange church in Asia, a boring church as it were by today's church standard.

"And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews, and Greeks."

It was a daily church with a daily word feast on the revelations of Jesus! They were on this word feast and fest daily for two years. And thereafter the power of God exploded into special miracles!

"And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them." (Acts 19:11-12).

This was the Acts church - a place of revelation and power. Special focus on the word brought special miracles. It was the same pattern in Acts 6:7-8, as the word of God, increased in the church, Gods power exploded and even the laymen in the church begin to work in the power of God, signs, and wonders!

Note here that the miracles were termed "special". From the root translation, it means 'extraordinary, of rare occurrence'. The choice of this word is understandable, the average church in the Acts of the Apostles experienced on a daily basis, miracles, signs, and wonders! Acts 2:43, Acts 5:12, Acts 6:8, Acts 8:6,13, Acts 14:3, Acts 15:12 all talked of miracles, signs, and wonders were done. But here in Acts 19, Paul gave special attention to teaching revelations of the word and that gave birth to unusual manifestations - special miracles! Miracles that are not common!

This is what will happen when the church focuses on its primary assignment - it becomes the center for the supernatural acts of God! From this hour God is sounding an alarm in his Holy mountain and he is calling for a return to the supernatural order of things in the church.

In the years ahead, starting from this year, the church will be restored back to her place of power for today's churches resembles more of entertainment centers than supernatural centers! But God will have none of this for the house of the Lord shall be called the house of 'prayer'!

The move of the Spirit is always a move of power! There is a new move in the spiritual horizon, its slowly building and its purpose is clear, to restore the church back to its original purpose and design in God: a place of power and revelation! This is the prophetic meaning of the new year declarations of newness, new season, a new dawn, a new beginning that is all around us. Though many are not seeing it in that light. There is an unfolding agenda: the churches that will be in the cutting edge of ministry in the next few years are not those built on the wisdom of men but on the power and wisdom of God! From here the new order will be built by reverting to the old and original intent of God for his church, a church led by the Holy Spirit and built by the Holy Spirit.

The men and women who will have the leadership of the world are men and women who have submitted to the leadership of the Spirit. All over the world we are at a point in history where every known solution to mankind has failed, but in the midst of this there shall arise men and women with supernatural wisdom spiritually discerned by the Spirit of God who will chart new course for the world in government, education, media, arts, family, religion, and technology. Like Joseph and Daniel of old, they will be the harbinger of creative solutions and wisdom inspired by the Spirit of God.

We are in the days of His power! We are in the days of the supply of the Spirit. The presence of God's Spirit in your life will make a huge difference in your result. Crave for his competitive advantage today!
