Hinderances To Effective Prayer

"If I regard sin and baseness in my heart [that is, if I know it is there and do nothing about it],
The Lord will not hear [me];" (Psalms 66:18)

Baseness: Lacking or indicating the lack of higher qualities of mind or spirit. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
Sin starts in the heart. Every sin that is committed is a product of an uncontrolled and unguided thought. When I begin to gather my thoughts around a lust in my heart, sin is not far from me. These kinds of thoughts will make my prayers to become abominations before the living God.
Also, when I realised that I lack a higher quality of mind or spirit, and I did not pray to God about it. What is a higher quality of mind or spirit?
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross." (Philippians 2:5‭-‬8 NKJV)
Jesus possesses the highest quality of mind that I must emulate. When I realised that my mind or spirit is far from Jesus' standards, God expects me to do something about it. Most importantly, He expects me to pray about it. But if I brush it aside and pretend as if there is no problem, the Lord will not hear my prayers.
I must labour therefore to continually purge myself and request that God does the same in my inner man. I must never excuse any character that is not in line with Jesus'.

ACTION PLAN: I must diligently search my heart today, with the help of the Holy Ghost, and pray to God about every sin and baseness therein.

PRAYER: Purge me oh Lord of every sin and lack of characters of Jesus in my life.
