The Lord talked to me once about how I had been struggling with praying for the sick and seeing no healing occur and He caught me in my ministerial studies class one day and He asked me why I think I haven't seen any healings. I responded that I thought I didn't have enough faith but I wasn't sure. He then told me very gently that I was praying these long elaborate prayers mixed with very religious sounding words as if I was trying to impress and convince those I was praying for that my prayer was effective. Then He told me very simply to just lay hands on people and speak in His name.
Well not more than a week after that my wife was getting a sore throat and her tonsils began to swell up. We were talking on the phone and were about to do our nightly Bible reading and I asked if she wanted me to pray for her. So she said yes and I began to pray for the reading that was about to happen and for faith to be stirred for healing. I then just said in the name of Jesus I command your throat to unswell and all pain and stiffness to go. Right at that moment she began laughing and I thought it was because I sounded funny because I couldn't figure out how to vocalize this and she said my tonsils and throat instantly unswelled at the moment you spoke! HALLELUJAH!!!
Well we did our reading and she started to tell me that her neck was still somewhat sore and stiff and so we prayed again in the same manner and in the same way I commanded the stiffness to go in Jesus' name and she laughed again. This time I knew it was because the Lord had acted and sure enough she said that instantly the pain and stiffness left and that she was able to rotate her neck again! Praise the Lord!
