Matthew 6
He Teaches Us How To Pray

The Lord's Prayer
Jesus Taught His Disciples How To Pray

9
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. —Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit guides us in what things to pray for, He teaches us many things about prayer and how to pray:
  • He teaches us the value of words—that prayer needs the backing of words.
  • He will teach us how to listen to Him, and how He speaks to us through the Word, and through people, and circumstances, and through nature.
  • He teaches us how to approach God in prayer, and what the atmosphere of prayer should be.
  • He also teaches us His will and how to discern His will.
Consequently, He shows us whether or not our prayers are according to His will, and whether our motives are right. Overall, He will teach us the great value of prayer and the great necessity of prayer.
