We either follow the will of God, or we follow the will of man. One nature or the other. We are a combination of the two, yet the will of man is our baser biological instinct, the one we use in order to survive. We as humans, in comparison to our mammalian family, go a step beyond in developing intellect . That is where the choice of which way to live comes in as we are also capable due to that intellect, to seek gain at the expense of others or inversely, to help others simply live unoppressed, sometimes at our own expense.
The choice determines how close to God we may become. Man moved away from God by pursuing baser instincts and calling it progress. God called it sin. Some humans live only by their baser instincts, most of them living by choosing personal gain. Few live by the will of God.
