Goodbye Kava

Today at 5pm I washed out my coffee mug, filled it, and drank my last mug of Kava.

What's Kava? That's the big question. Kava was an instant coffee with all the caffeine, but with most of its acid neutralized, giving it a very smooth non-sour taste.
Borden made it since 1962, but I didn't learn about it until 1976. Since then, it's been my preferred coffee, which is quite an honor, considering how much I drink.
Borden recently stopped production of Kava, citing persistently low sales.

So who cares? What's all the fuss about an instant coffee that most people never heard of?

Nothing really, just the end of a 44-year era in my life. This, along with several other ends and changes, emphasizes how quickly time and life pass.

Nearly 40 years have passed since I met my wife. Where did the time go so quickly? We must be having fun...

Nearly 30 years ago, we married each other and officially started forging two lives into one. We're still working on that.

One last swallow. Kava is now only a memory.

Not all the memories are happy, but all of them are good. Like life itself.
