God's Faithfulness Where I Am Now

In 2008 we began fellowship in the Assemblies of God Church, where we are now. I served on the Welcome team, the Catering team and the prayer team and we both took part in a discipleship training course for a year,'Blaze'. We served for two years in a Church Plant,in our neighbourhood. In 2013. I was advised by my doctor to come off Nightwork at Royal Mail, because of kidney problems. I then worked during the day on sorting. In 2014 the distribution centre where I worked was closed and I was sent to Bristol Mail Distribution Centre, but transport was only available for me on late shift, 1400-2200. This did not contribute to my health and I was very ill, resulting in me,taking retirement from Royal Mail at 64 years old,in 2015.This meant living on a small Royal Mail pension until I started receiving the State Old Age Pension. A small redundancy funding helped us through. In 2016 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and first received hormone treatment and then Radiotherapy for seven and a half weeks.. This brought the PSA level down to just above zero. Our Church Fellowship has been so encouraging. It is so good not to go to work now I am retired. My children and grandchildren are lovely, but pandemic has meant not seeing them, except on Video talk time. Just eighteen months ago I was diagnosed with kidney failure. I only have one kidney,as my right kidney was removed with cancer in 2002. I had a fistala put in my right arm for needles during dialysis. God has been bringing healing and dialysis has been delayed because the kidney count went up from 18 to 35! Last year I was in hospital four times with pneumonia and sepsis. Then terrible gout in the knees and joints. Steroids have helped and I am getting much better. God is faithful in all that we go through. The present pandemic has meant that I have been shielding with my wife, who is my unpaid carer. As I am a vulnerable high risk person we have to be very careful shielding from Covid-19. So grateful that God is our Shield and His Word! Our church facilities have been closed for six months but we enjoy good church service relays on internet. God is so good!
