God's Faithfulness Through My Childhood

When we moved from London to the New Town in Hertfordshire we lived in a three bedroomed end of terrace house on a council estate near large fields and woods, with beautiful trees and surroundings. My brother and I were sent to Sunday School, when I was four, although mum and dad did not attend church regularly. I enjoyed singing the choruses with actions and hearing the Bible stories and went on to Bible Class. I joined the Cubs and went on to the Boy Scouts and Senior Scouts. I enjoyed camps and Gang shows. Infant and Primary school was good and then on to Secondary Modern School and a family exchange trip to Germany. I enjoyed playing football on the field and up and down the hill on a book,on a roller skate and mixing with the neighbourhood children. Dad worked in an iron foundry and three evenings as a part-time youth worker. I used to play table tennis and snooker at the youth club. Mum was crippled as a young girl by tuberculosis and was lame, but worked so hard looking after neighbour's kids and cleaning in the community and school. We had a little sister born in our new home and I had a good childhood.
