God's Faithfulness In Another Pastorate

I'm 1984,we received a letter from a church in Kent, asking if we would consider a visit with a view to the full-time Pastorate. I replied and was invited to visit and preach and it went well and we were invited to visit as a family, which resulted in the church all together inviting me as the Pastor. It was a church that had been planted by a bigger church in the town. We were unable to get a Council House Exchange, but the Elder and his wife,a delightful couple agreed to accommodate us for a while,so that we could get on with the work. Then a Policeman allowed us to live in his house, while the family were living elsewhere. We worked hard there and enjoyed the fellowship and ministry for the LORD. The church and Mother church helped us raise enough money for a deposit on a small terraced cottage. We were able to pay back the loans. I visited many houses with the Elder getting to know people and inviting them to the church, which was on a housing estate. There was a good Sunday School work on Sunday afternoon and we started a children's club midweek and a Youth group. We had some great Conventions with special speakers and a minibus to take the elderly to a Lunch every week on Tuesdays. A lot of change took place improving the work. After three years I did not feel that I was able to lead the people fully into the thriving Christian community,I would have liked it to be. There was a resistance to change and I resigned and we started attending the Mother Church and I am pleased to say that after a few months the church invited the Mother church to help them. It was 1987 and the church is now thriving and going forward.
