God's Commitment To You

"As for Me, behold, My covenant (solemn pledge) is with you, and you shall be the father of many nations." (Genesis 17:4 AMPC)

Covenant: A usually formal, solemn, and binding agreement. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).
God reintroduce Himself to Abraham in verse 1 of this chapter. He charged him to walk perfectly before Him. But in verse 4, God stated His solemn pledge to Abraham. He made a covenant with him. The question is "Why would God make a covenant with a man that is still far from being perfect?"
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16 NKJV)
God relates with humans according to His indeterminate counsel. He relates with us in accordance to His eternal will. Therefore while the world was still in sins, God sent His only begotten Son to die for our sins.
He also takes into consideration the length and breadth of man's life. He knows the end before the beginning of a matter. He knew everything about Abraham, actually He knows everything about everything. Nothing is hidden in His sight. He rejected Esau before he was born. When Esau came to being, he only confirmed God's assertions about him. He became a profane person and also a fornicator. He could not fit into God's purpose. What is God saying to you and about you? Find out His declarations about you, and receive grace to believe them. They will surely come to pass, because it is impossible for God to lie.
Further in Genesis chapter 17:9-10, He asked Abraham to be circumcised and do same for all his male descendants. God wants you to be circumcised in heart and do same for all your descendants. He wants you to turn away from your sins and sinful habits.

ACTION PLAN: What has God said about you? Make efforts to search them out.

PRAYER: Father, help me to keep your covenant with me.(Psalms 78:10)
