First Point Of Call

"He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood." (Luke 22:44 NLT)

At Gethsemane, Jesus demonstrated to us the right attitude in facing challenging situations. He had said earlier in chapter 18:1 that men ought to pray always and not to faint. One outstanding quality about Him is that He practised everything He preached. When the time came for Him to face the Cross, He did not faint but prayed earnestly. God sent an angel to strengthen Him and He on His part depended on God and asked for help in the place of prayer.
Little wonder He recorded victories before the Cross, on the Cross and after it. Prayer will help us to be in a permanent position of victories. Total dependence on God through prayer will keep us from failing and falling from God's standard. We cannot be casual about facing any situation, prayer must be our first response. Prayer is a way of reporting a matter to the highest authority. When you have succeeded in reporting a case to the highest authority, your hands are off it. You only need to wait for their decisions over such case. God is the highest authority in heaven and on earth. He is our Father, and we have access to Him through Jesus Christ. Amen.

ACTION PLAN: God needs to help us in order to make prayer our first response in any situation.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, I desire and pray that you will make me a man of prayer.
