Fidelity And Loyalty

I really admire that in devoted Christians. And in marriages too of course . People who never say an ill word about their partner. Never tempted to spice up an otherwise dull conversation, with some hot gossip about their partner's bad habits.
I am just starting to realise now that it is a one way street in most cases. The creator loves, the created is indifferent. The created never wakes up to the awesomeness of being loved by the creator. That is the key to igniting our relationship with God. Waking up and realising the divine is in love with us.
If I can compare it to my relationship with my gorgeous dog. I didn't create my dog but I can just look at him in awe. Awe of his natural dignity and daily enthusiasms, his zest for life. But I can receive love back from my dog in equal amounts. If only God could receive equal amounts back from us.
Maybe we need to treat our relationship with God as really intimate like a lover. I have a problem with this of course, as I think of God as male and I am a heterosexual. Guess I need to get over such a minor glitch.
Anyway I'd like to aim for fidelity and loyalty in my human relationships and also of course the one with the divine.
